Redefining Resilience: Embracing Challenges with Fluidity

Insight

Resilience is not about fighting hard.
It’s about holding things gently.

Being fluid like water.

Like the invitation from Bruce Lee:

“Empty your mind.
Be formless, shapeless, like water.
Now you put water into a cup
It becomes the cup.
You put water into a bottle.
It becomes the bottle.
You put it in a teapot.
It becomes the teapot.
Now water can flow, or it can crash.
Be water, my friend
.”

Or, as Josh Waitzkin wrote in The Art of Learning:

“Being flexible like a blade of grass,
bending and moving when facing a wind storm,
in contrast to a brittle twig snapping under pressure.”

Holding things gently requires awareness;
it’s not about denying your fear but acknowledging it,
using it as guidance to maintain your stance,
to remember who you are despite your fear,
regardless of how depleted you may feel.
Know that it too shall pass,
moment by moment.

The answer and clarity will come in time.

Rest when you need to rest.
Move when you need to move.

Quote

“The greatest life improvement is to make your mind your own best friend and biggest supporter. Everything becomes easier when you do.”
